Get the medical certificate

certificado médicoDuration: At Cavica about an hour without booking; the rest do not publish it

First step of the route: no certificate, no booking. At some centers it lasts 30 days, not 60.

Take the exam at any center on the official «Instituciones médicas habilitadas» list — they are all in Montevideo. The certificate is obtained BEFORE booking the visit: without it there is nothing to book.

What to bring

  • Identity document: a Uruguayan cédula or a valid Uruguayan passport
  • Ask at the center itself how long its certificate is valid

Where to get the medical exam — department of Montevideo

All 33 centers on the Intendencia de Montevideo list for the private categories A, G1 and G2 — the same document the Montevideo card for the trámite, the official procedure, points to. On the map, 33: the remaining addresses could not be located on the ground. The intendencia publishes a price for none of them: it is known for 2 out of 33, both verified on the clinics’ own sites — the rest you find out by phone. The address and phone of every line are taken from the list word for word.

    No appointment needed; the exam takes about an hour. Mon–Fri 07:00–16:00, Sat 08:00–12:30. Verified 08/20/2026. The same chain charges 962 UYU in Maldonado and 750 in Canelones: the price depends on the department, not on the service. For Montevideo, CAVICA notes separately that the certificate is valid for 30 days — half as long as in Maldonado.

    Walk-in, first come first served, no appointment, for members and non-members alike: Centro Médico Sur y Palermo (same address, Santiago de Chile 1241, ground floor) Mon–Fri 8:00–16:00 — categories A, G1 and G2 only. There are two more locations: Paso de la Arena (Cno. Tomkinson 2456) Tue 14:00–16:00 and Wed 9:00–12:00; Médis Group (Francisco García Cortinas 2404) Tue and Fri 8:00–10:00 by appointment, phone 2716 1617 option 2. The price carries an «actualizado 25-6-2026» mark and was verified 08/20/2026. With diabetes, glaucoma, codes 4, 24, 31 and 37, and from age 80, CASMU sends you to the intendencia’s own doctor.

How it goes on the spot

  • The medical certificate is officially the first step: the trámite card puts it before booking the visit.

Important

  • The certificate may be valid half as long as in Maldonado: Cavica states 30 days for its Montevideo location.
  • With diabetes, glaucoma, codes 4, 24, 31 and 37, and from age 80, CASMU sends you to the intendencia’s own doctor.
  • In Maldonado the order is reversed: there you book the visit date first and bring the certificate to it.
