Wait out the interval and book the retake. After the first fail you wait 4 days, then 8, 16, 30, 45 and 60. It all has to fit inside the 180 days given for the whole trámite, the official procedure.

  • Maldonado, 2026: he failed the theory, was given a new date a week later, and was charged nothing extra — «it is paid, you need nothing». That is one case, not a rule.

Important

  • The intervals for theory and practice are counted separately: failing the practical does not lengthen the wait before retaking the theory.
  • The whole trámite gets 180 days. Miss it and the steps you have done are lost, and the fee is not refunded.
  • The number of attempts is not limited: you can retake as long as the 180 days last.
  • The interval is counted from the day of the failed test, not from the day you booked the retake.
