Hand in the documents and pay
A visit to the intendencia building, payment on the spot. Then they assign the theory.
Come on the assigned day and hour to the intendencia’s Edificio Sede, Av. 18 de Julio 1360, with all your documents. You pay on the spot. Once the papers are checked, they assign the theory test.
What to bring
- Identity document: a cédula or a Uruguayan passport, valid and in good condition
- Medical certificate from a center on the official list
- If you go on your own: libreta de propiedad — the car’s title (not STX, STU or SES), SOA insurance, technical inspection if the car is 5 years old or more
- If you go on your own: the accompanying driver’s papers — a cédula or passport and a license of the category you need or higher, held at least 2 years
- Money to pay: the 2,360 pesos are paid that same day
How it goes on the spot
- Payment is made on the day of the visit, not in advance: the card for the trámite, the official procedure, puts it in the same step as handing in the papers.
«El día y hora agendados deberás presentarte con toda la documentación en el edificio sede de la Intendencia (Av. 18 de Julio 1360).»
- The theory is assigned as soon as the papers are accepted.
«Una vez aprobada la documentación, se agenda el examen teórico.»
- How to find the office inside the building: first basement floor, door 33, Santiago de Chile sector; open 08:15 to 15:00 on weekdays.
«Piso: 1er. subsuelo Puerta: 33 Sector: Santiago de Chile Horario: De lunes a viernes de 08:15 a 15:00 h»
- Debts are checked before you file: with an unpaid fine or an overdue payment plan the papers are not accepted.
«Para hacer el trámite no podés tener multas de tránsito impagas o convenios atrasados.»
Important
- The practical test is assigned only after you pass the theory — they do not give you two dates at once here.
- Check your debts in advance — yours and those of the car you will take to the test: better not to reach the counter with them.
